What Takes the Lead?

When we were walking in from lunch the other day, we ran into someone in the parking lot with whom we have had several conversations lately. He and his wife have opened a mission project in their part of the state.

He said something that I always want to remember. He said that since they started this project, he has tried to never let the money dictate the ministry (although he said it more eloquently than that). The money should not take the lead. Since he has adopted that policy, God has provided.

I like what he said. We are called to listen to God and to discern what his call is upon our lives. Once we know that, we can be obedient and allow God to take the lead. THEN we can reach for the resources to make the ministry happen.

That's a whole different tact than looking at the available money and allowing that number to outline the ministry to be done.

Once way allows God to be in the center; the other method places money has the limiting factor.
